Anna Evans works from her studio on the Hibiscus Coast north of Auckland. Her work is inspired by the landscape and places where she grew up, with a focus on native New Zealand flora and fauna. Anna uses vibrant and explosive colour to echo the twilight hours when the birdlife she depicts are most vocal. The Tui is a bird which, to Anna, represents strength and resilience as they are undefeated and undepleted in the face of colonization, unlike many other birds.
